New Appointment System Starts in 2009

In order to increase the speed with which we process requests for routine consular services and to make your time in our facility even more efficient, beginning January 2, 2009, the U.S. Consulate in Merida will begin scheduling appointments for certain services through a new on-line appointment system.  This warden message contains more details about this new system.

Please note that this system applies only to appointments at the U.S. Consulate in Merida, Yucatan.  If you are seeking an appointment at any other consulate or consular agency, please contact that office directly.  Contact information is available at the end of this warden message.

Who needs an appointment?

  • First-time passport applicants
  • Minors (under 16) who are renewing a previously issued passport
  • Applicants seeking notarial services (affidavits, acknowledgements, and true copies of documents)
  • U.S. citizen parent(s) applying to register the birth of a child

Who does not need an appointment?
 
The following services will be accepted on a walk-in basis according to the schedule below except for holidays and the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month:
 

  • Emergency passport applications (M-F: 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
  • Adult passport renewals (M-F: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)
  • Requests for additional visa pages (M-F: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)

How to schedule an appointment

  • Except in special circumstances, applicants must make an appointment through the on-line system at: http://evisaforms.state.gov/ACSSchedulingSystem.asp.
  • Applicants needing special assistance may call the American Citizen Services section at 999-942-5700 between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. 
  • All passport applicants should fill out and print their applications via the following web site: https://pptform.state.gov/.
  • U.S. citizen parent(s) registering children born in Mexico should fill out the DS-2029, the Affidavit of Parentage and Physical Presence and the supplementary page, in addition to a passport application if you intend to apply for a U.S. passport for your child.  Please note that no additional passport appointment is necessary if you schedule an appointment to register the birth of your child.
